Q'65 is originated from The Hague, The Netherlands and was founded in January 1965 by guitarists Joop Roelofs and Frank Nuyens. The band was infamous for its raw and deliberatly ugly sound. It's name often was shortened to Q or "Kjoe", yet there is still much doubt about the origin of the name. On of the roaming stories is about a prevention campaign by Veilig Verkeer Nederland, where childeren were introduced by using the name "Uw Kleuter in 1965" (meaning "your kid in 1965"), abbreviated to UK65. Other sources mention two Rolling Stones songs, namely "Susie Q" and "Route 66", as being both "parents" of the band's name, in which 66 was replaced as 65 because it sounded so much better. The "Kjoe"'s first hit single was released in March 1966, reached the 11th position and stayed in the charts (Top 40) for 13 weeks. There second release, "The Life I Live" was supported by their record company with an extensive publicity campain. A speed boat was used to travel to London, but due to the lack of a work permit, the band returned after have giving a few interviews. The journey back to the Netherlands likewise was done by speed boat, however it was used only during the last kilometers of the trip to the coastal town of Schevingen, where 30.000 fans awaited the band's return. Drug abuse, being the casue of some arguements, as well as the military duties of singer Wim Belier, temporarily ended the band's existance. In April 1967, "World of Birds" still reach the top 10. The albums Afghanistan" and "We Are Gonna Make It", released in 1970 and 1971, were the final LP's.
