RARE BEAT - GARAGE ROCK AND PSYCHEDELIC
THE APPLEJACKS
Records are not for sale - For your viewing pleasure only

The Applejacks were a British group founded in 1961 in Solihull, West Midlands. They were the first Brumbeat group (people from Birmingham calling themself Brummies) who had a top 10 hit with "Tell Me When". The members known eachother from the scout movement. They first named The crestas and changed the groupname into the Jaguars. In 1962 they changed their name finally in The Applejacks. They had a femal bass player Megan Davies who married drummer Gerry Freeman in 1965, with the other band members as their best man. Between 1962 and 1964 they only had 2 hits; the Lennon/Mccartney song "Like Dreamers do" and "Three Little Words". Both singles ended in the top 30. Record company Decca had another song for them called "Chim Chim Chiree", but The Applejacks refused to record this song. This led to a quarrel between Decca and The Applejacks. It was the reason that "Bye Bye Girl" was not released before 1965. Other songs had no success and The Applejacks signed to CBS in 1967. From then on they only play in small clubs and at sea cruises (Trans-Atlantic ocean liners) before they split up.
