THE GATES OF EDEN

Gates Of Eden were an English Freakbeat R&B band who named themselves after the Bob Dylan song
and cut three singles for Pye before disbanding in mid-1967. Their first effort was a fairly respectable cover of
the Kinks song "Too Much On My Mind". The follow-up was an awful rendition of "Snoopy Vs.The Red Baron".
With one last chance of a hit, they chose two original songs written by singer/guitarist Roger Matthews, "1 to 7",
by far their best single, was championed by Radio London DJ John Peel as his Record Of The Week.
