The Petards are a beat group based in Germany, compared to The Lords and The Rattles. The brothers Klaus and Horst Ebert founded, during their school time in 1961 in Steinatal, Under the name "Magic Stompers", playing free jazz and covers. After Ruediger "Roger" Waldmann, played bass and bring in the twist and beat music, they called themselfs The Petards, in 1964. Klaus and Ebert began to compose their own songs and the popularity of the group grow after they played live at several festivals in Germany. Thanks to the hippie movement they could count on many fans, playing beatrock in a "Flower Power" outfit with an extensive stage act and lightshow.
